Connecticut Health Council Hosts Summit on Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare

Industry experts visited UConn Health on May 16 to learn about the future of health and Artificial Intelligence, receive a legislative update on this technology, and discover the positive impacts AI has had on healthcare so far.

Hosted by Andréa Hawkins, MSOP, the keynote was delivered by Bill Fera, Principal at Deloitte. Our moderators were Michelle Cote, Director of Launc[H] in Hartford and Leader Instructor at the Connecticut Center For Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CCEI) at University of Connecticut School of Business, and Rahul Bansal, Global Client Partner for Healthcare and Life Sciences at Persistent.

Not only did industry experts meet for this summit, but a watch party with over 40 UCONN school of business students watched along in the Hartford campus thanks to the generous support of Deloitte.

Our panelists included Dr. Thomas Agresta, Chair of Family Medicine and Director of Medical Informatics at the UConn School of Medicine; Marissa Fayer, CEO and Founder of HERhealthEQ and CEO of DeepLook Medical; Dr. Christopher Gange Jr., M.D., Oncology at Yale Medicine; James Griffin, Healthcare Technologist and Founder of Invene; Chathuri Daluwatte, PhD, Head of AI Diagnostics, AstaZeneca; Anjan Roy, Partner and Managing Director at Deloitte; Dr. Barry Stein, M.D., Chief Clinical Innovation Officer and Chief Medical Informatics Officer, Hartford HealthCare; and Frederick Varn, PhD, Assistant Professor at JAX.

Additional speakers were Eric Brown, Elemental Cognition; Marc Lombardi, Shipman & Goodwin; and Dan O'Keefe, Commissioner of DECD.
